Hangar 9 in TLV old port is now open for public

For the last few decades, dozens of architectural proposals such as high-rise housing, marinas and peninsulas have been lying on the planners' table, waiting for one real estate speculation. The excess in planning and greed had created a vacuum in which – without grandiose in tensions and quite unexpectedly – parking lots, sales warehouses, restaurants, dance bars, car washes and marinas were able to multiple side by side. In order to stabilize the temporary ownership of the city on the coastline, one should not differentiate categorically between built and un-built, closed and open, day and night, yet imagine alternative programs on the beach and to the ambitious plans of the old port. Port architecture is an internalized blob that resents occupation. As such, it demands liquid programs that constantly update. With or without architects, on the new site one may drive through a coffee shop, jump in tot eh water, go fishing, buy flooring for the bathroom, lick ice cream and enjoy the sun on the hard concrete, passing time away between mutated symptoms of a constructed beach.
